Airport Addicted Gear Configurations

The backpack comes with a multitude of dividers, so that you can configure it based on your gear and your personal preferences. There are no rules about how it should be packed – it’s entirely up to you. What follows are suggestions based on different types of equipment.

Gear: 400 mm 2.8 Lens/ SLR equipment

This is a classic arrangement for any photographer carrying a 400 2.8 lens. The bottom of the bag has an indentation that allows lens hoods up to 8” in diameter to fit right in. Some 70-200/ 80-200 lenses can also be put in vertically (shown at the bottom to the left of the 400 2.8). Note that in this arrangement, the SLR bodies are not connected to a lens.

General Photography
Gear: 2 SLR bodies, 2 lenses, plus gear and clothing.

When carrying a smaller amount of equipment, this arrangement is excellent for carrying other needed items like clothing, food, etc. In this photo there is one pair of jeans, several shirts, socks, underwear, a jacket, and a hat in the lower compartment. A horizontal divider is provided to block off the bottom from the top compartments.

Modular Bag Systems
Gear: Applies to all types of gear

If you use a modular belt system, this is an excellent way to transport your gear. Simply take out most of the dividers, and place your modular components on the inside. When you arrive at your destination, you can take out your Modulus system with the Pro Speed Belt attached, and go to work immediately. Thus your Airport Addicted becomes your “storage and transportation” system, and your Modulus set up inside becomes your “working” system when your actually taking pictures. Says Murdoch: “Often I will remove all the dividers and just organize all my Modulus stuff in the bag. It’s such a pleasure not having to organize with all those dividers.”
