Using the chest harness that comes included with the Change Up™

When used correctly, the chest straps that come with the Change Up can be a tremendous advantage while shooting. In addition to reading the text below, we recommend that you also download the instructions.

Using the chest straps to support the bag
Photojournalist Helen Atkinson of the UK shooting PR photos and testing one of the first Change Up prototypes with the chest harness. Notice how the chest harness, which is included with the Change Up, allows her to distribute the weight of the belt pack between her hips and the shoulders. It also allows far more gear to be carried in the Change Up comfortably. In this photo, for example, the Trim Changer™ was attached to the side of the Change Up’s waist belt.

Sitting down, driving a car, and other important activities.
In this photo, Helen Atkinson uses the adjustment straps on the front of the chest harness to move the belt pack higher on her body so she can sit down, edit, and transmit images. Depending on what you are doing during your shoot, you may want the Change Up higher or lower on your body. The ability to move it farther up is clearly advantageous if you need to jump in a car, sit down and edit, or even go the bathroom without taking it off. This is an essential feature for photographers on the move.

How it works – Front View
There are two separate straps that are supplied with the Change Up which attach to the D rings on either side of the handle on the bag. There are buckles on the front of the straps that allow you to adjust them up or down. For exact directions, download the instructions.

How it works – Rear View
The straps criss-cross in the back and then attach with snap clips onto the waist belt. There are also some small “triglide” buckles on the back for adjusting the total length. For exact directions, download the instructions.

How the straps are attached.
This photo illustrates how the straps are attached to the bag itself. It’s important that the straps with the adjustment buckles are located and attached to the top of the bag on either side of the handles. The front adjustment buckles raises or lowers the Change Up’s position on your body. The other snap clips are attached to the waist belt. For exact directions, download the instructions.

Taking it on and off
You can take the belt pack on and off your body with an over-the-head maneuver that with a little practice you can do without thinking. Basically, you release the waist belt buckle, then grab the straps on your chest in a cross wise fashion, then pull up and over. For exact directions, download the instructions.

After taking it off
After taking it off, you can use the straps to wear it as a shoulder bag, which is more casual and faster to get off of your body. The key to wearing any type of photography bag is to change its position on your body regularly to relieve constant stress created on specific parts of your body. For exact directions, download the instructions.

Sitting down
With most belt packs, when you sit down you feel quite uncomfortable because bag is in the way. You can use the adjustment straps to pull the bag up 4 to 8” on the front of your body, which allows you to sit down comfortably. For exact directions, download the instructions.
