Upgrade to TakeOff 2.0
I recently upgraded from the original TakeOff bag to the new 2.0. What a remarkable difference. The first one was my favorite bag of all time, but this new one is quite the update. I feel like I was flying economy and just got bumped to business class! The zippers are higher quality, the pockets are more plentiful, and handle is better. ThinkTank really paid attention to what worked and what didn't with the original bag and made every improvement that I had pondered in my 11 years with the old one. Customer for life over here, y'all! Noice!
Convenient but for travel? Didn't fix any of the reasons for getting it.
I got this to replace my Pelican Air so it would be less conspicuous and hopefully I wouldn't be forced to gate check it nearly as much. THE PROS: The backpack/roller combo is fab and while it takes up less real estate than my Pelican Air, I'm able to fit a bit more in. THE CONS: If you want to ensure it's with you on flights (in cabin and not in the hold) and you're going anywhere that isn't a major hub, forget it. Any flight that's less than 2 hours, I've fought to not gate check it and have lost, despite describing the need to have it with me (the fragility of the equipment, the cost, the lithium batteries, etc.). In case it helps those considering purchasing who have upcoming trips, I've been forced to gate check it from Oslo to the Lofoten Islands, Heathrow to Inverness, Heathrow to Shannon, Denver to Moab, and several others. I've had issues with Delta, British Airways, KLM, Aer Lingus, and Wideroe (small regional in Norway) airlines. I am certain I've had more issues with this roller bag than I have with my Pelican just in the relatively short time I've had it (I purchased it in January). Unlike another reviewer, I have been forced multiple times to unpack and try to squeeze all of my lithium batteries and such into my personal item. This was after I said that I have so many rechargables that they might not fit in my personal item and the attendant said, "If they don't fit in your personal item, we'll have to send the entire thing on tomorrow's flight". Would I buy it again? Eh. Sadly, probably not.
Great for travel
I wanted something I could pull through the airport, as I did not want to check my gear. This bag works well. It fits in most overheads and is not heavy. I am 60, so hauling things around is not what I want to do. This makes things really easy. The conversion to a backpack is easy also. The only problem I have had is with the handle. It does not want to stay open at shorter heights.
Got one of these recently
Couldn't be happier with it, made my job so much easier. It's perfect!
super
I should have had this long time ago. I have so many bags and know it all fits perfect in this one superbag.
